Irvingia belongs to the family called Irvingiaceae. It is a genus that forms a part of Africa and the South Asian trees. It is often called as wild mango or the so called bush mango. These fruits are rich sources of fats and proteins. These nuts are also called as etima, dika nuts and so on. These nuts are aromatic in nature, and for preservation sake these nuts are dried for a quite long time in the sun. Sometimes they are powered and sold in the market, apart from being sold as full nuts. These nuts possess a high content of mucilage which can be used as a thickening agent.They are primarily used food preparation due to their thickening property. Even oils are manufactured from these kind of nuts for a number of applications. The Irvingia fruit is considered to be a large drupe with a relatively fibrous flesh. The woods from these trees are used for construction purpose. Irvingia has several features and it is used to reduce the fat content in the body. The Irvingia fruits tent to reduce the body fat and therefore promotes proper and a healthy blood glucose levels. It controls the cholesterol, when added used in cooking.
